Sunday 24th April saw a record field of 160 riders from many Cornish cycle clubs taking part in the Penzance Wheelers Tour of Penwith charity ride raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK
In brilliant Penwith sunshine riders set off from Scarlet's Wine Bar in Lelant to tackle 42 miles of challenging but beautiful granite coast. The first steep climb to Paul was soon upon riders. The white blossom on the trees maybe distracted the mind from pain in the legs on the sharp hills through to St Buryan and onto Lamorna. Kelynack Hill before a welcome rest at Portherras Cross. Time for a quick sunbathe, cake and coffee before tackling the mighty Eagles' Nest after Zennor. The welcome long descent back to Lelant was amble reward for a few hours in the saddle on the hills of Penwith.
A fabulous community event with all Cornish cycle clubs represented and all age ranges and all abilities. A preliminary total of donations exceeding £2000. A big thanks to all who have donated and helped with time, and thanks to patient motorists.
